Time to First Token (TTFT)

Also known as: TTFT

What it means

The time between sending a request to an AI model and receiving the first generated token.

💡 The time between placing a food order and receiving the first item.

It is important for streaming applications because users judge responsiveness by how quickly the first part of an answer appears.
